Je večer, počuješ šuchot krídel ktorý prichádza z okna. Nevieš čo to je. Nikoho v okne nevidíš. Potom vzadu na oblohe zbadáš veľkú hnedú sovu ktorá sa vznesie nad tvoje okno a čaká kým ho otvoríš. Ty ho otvoríš a odviažeš jej z nohy list. Na obálke je úhľadné písmo. Otvoríš list a tam máš:
Dobrý deň boli ste prijatý na Rokfortskú strednú školu čarodejnícku. Prosíme aby ste sa zúčastnili triediacej ceremónie. Na otočku nám pošlite pergamen s vaším menom, priezviskom a sovou (e-mail).
Dočítaš. Odložíš list a obálku z ktorej vypadne ďalší list. Zoberieš čistý pergamen zo zásuvky. Vyberieš aj atrament a pierko. Namočíš ho do atramentu a napíšeš svoje meno. List pripevníš sove na nohu a ona odletí. Potom zodvihneš list a čítaš:
